DHS Customer Service Specialist (Future Contract Opportunity)
Job Summary
TalentWise LLC is building a pipeline of customer service and program support professionals to support anticipated government contract awards with Arlington County, VA.
The DHS Customer Service Specialist serves as a central point of entry for individuals seeking services across human services programs. This role provides high-quality customer service, supports intake and application processes, and connects clients to appropriate resources such as housing, financial assistance, employment, and behavioral health services.
The position operates in a fast-paced environment and requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate multiple systems while supporting clients with diverse and often complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients seeking human services and program support
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions with a customer-first approach
- Assist clients with intake, applications, and eligibility processes
- Enter, update, and maintain client data across multiple systems and databases
- Schedule appointments, manage referrals, and coordinate service delivery
- Provide information on programs and connect clients to appropriate County and community resources
- Verify application details, documentation, and eligibility requirements
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and case activities
- Process payments, collect fees, and reconcile financial transactions
- Support case tracking, reporting, and performance metrics
- Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to resolve client issues
- Assist with administrative tasks such as mail distribution, document processing, and recordkeeping
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Experience in customer service, administrative support, or human services environment
- Knowledge of social services programs, eligibility processes, or case management systems preferred
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple systems and maintain accurate records
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Bilingual skills (e.g., English/Spanish) may be preferred based on assignment
