Customer Account Specialist (DHS) (Future Contract Opportunity)
Job Summary
TalentWise LLC is building a pipeline of financial and client service professionals to support anticipated government contract awards with Arlington County, VA.
The Customer Account Specialist provides client-facing support for financial and billing services within human services programs. This role assists clients in understanding insurance coverage, payment options, and program eligibility while ensuring accurate account management and compliance with applicable regulations.
The position requires strong communication, analytical, and customer service skills, particularly when working with diverse populations and individuals experiencing complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct client interviews to assess financial eligibility, insurance coverage, and payment options
- Explain billing processes, insurance benefits, and program requirements to clients and stakeholders
- Determine eligibility for subsidized fee programs and establish payment plans
- Verify insurance coverage and coordinate with providers and payors
- Manage client accounts, including posting payments, reviewing balances, and making adjustments
- Monitor accounts for accuracy and determine appropriate actions, including write-offs or collections
- Respond to billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies with clients, staff, and insurance providers
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, including contracts and eligibility forms
- Apply customer service and de-escalation techniques when working with clients in sensitive situations
- Collaborate with clinical staff and external partners to ensure proper billing and reimbursement
- Stay current on healthcare billing regulations, policies, and compliance requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Experience in eligibility determination, billing, or financial services in a healthcare or human services environment
- Knowledge of healthcare billing practices, insurance programs, and regulatory requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to work with diverse populations
- Ability to analyze financial and eligibility data and make informed decisions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
- Certifications in medical billing or coding (preferred)
