Job Summary

TalentWise LLC is building a pipeline of experienced accounting professionals to support anticipated government contract awards with Arlington County, VA.

The Accountant III performs advanced professional accounting work involving complex financial systems, cash management, and governmental fund accounting. This role supports critical financial operations including cash flow management, investment tracking, financial reporting, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The position serves as a subject matter expert, providing technical accounting guidance, supporting audit and reporting functions, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily cash operations, including cash transfers, liquidity positioning, and forecasting 
  • Prepare and post complex journal entries for disbursements, revenues, and fund movements 
  • Monitor and reconcile financial transactions, including investments, debt service payments, and bond-related activities 
  • Support accounts payable functions, including invoice verification, coding, and processing 
  • Administer banking and investment platforms, including transaction processing and settlement activities 
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, identifying trends, variances, and anomalies 
  • Manage unclaimed property reporting and compliance with Commonwealth remittance requirements 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, state requirements) 
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to program managers and stakeholders 
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to resolve financial issues and ensure accurate reporting 
  • Support audits, year-end close processes, and financial statement preparation 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and internal controls

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field 
  • 3–5+ years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience (government experience preferred) 
  • Strong knowledge of cash management, governmental accounting, and financial reporting practices 
  • Experience with financial systems, banking platforms, and accounting software 
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable recommendations 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills 
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
