Benefits Customer Service Specialist (Future Contract Opportunity)
Job Summary
TalentWise LLC is building a pipeline of human resources and benefits professionals to support anticipated government contract awards with Arlington County, VA.
The Benefits Customer Service Specialist provides frontline support and administration for employee and retiree benefits programs. This role assists individuals in understanding and enrolling in benefits, resolves issues, and ensures accurate processing and maintenance of benefits data.
The position operates in a fast-paced environment and requires strong customer service, communication, and technical skills to support benefits administration and deliver a high-quality customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide customer service support to employees and retirees regarding benefits programs and policies
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, in-person, and virtual platforms
- Assist with benefits enrollment, eligibility verification, and life event updates
- Maintain and update employee benefits records in HR and benefits systems
- Research and resolve discrepancies with vendors, insurance providers, and internal systems
- Administer assigned benefits programs, including health, dental, life, and commuter benefits
- Support payroll processes related to benefit deductions and reconciliations
- Participate in Open Enrollment activities, including employee education and support sessions
- Process sensitive transactions such as retirement updates and death benefits
- Maintain electronic files and documentation to ensure compliance and audit readiness
- Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to improve service delivery
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and customer experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Experience in customer service, preferably in HR or benefits administration
- Working knowledge of employee benefits programs and applicable regulations (e.g., HIPAA)
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Oracle or similar platforms)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple inquiries in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
