Agency on Aging Program Coordinator (Future Contract Opportunity)
Job Summary
TalentWise LLC is building a pipeline of senior program professionals to support anticipated government contract awards with Arlington County, VA.
The Agency on Aging Program Coordinator provides strategic leadership, program oversight, and community engagement to support services for older adults. This role serves as a key liaison with federal, state, regional, and local partners, while managing programs, contracts, and initiatives that address the needs of the aging population.
The position is responsible for long-range planning, program development, policy recommendations, and oversight of staff and service providers to ensure effective, compliant, and responsive service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning, development, and implementation of programs supporting older adults
- Serve as primary liaison with federal, state, regional agencies, and community organizations
- Represent the program to boards, commissions, and public forums; prepare and deliver presentations
- Develop and manage grants, contracts, and service agreements with providers
- Monitor program performance and evaluate effectiveness of services and initiatives
- Conduct research and needs assessments to identify service gaps and emerging community needs
- Provide policy recommendations and support strategic planning efforts
- Oversee program budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., Older Americans Act)
- Supervise and guide program staff, contractors, and volunteers
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts with internal departments and external stakeholders
- Prepare reports, communications, and materials for leadership and governing bodies
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Administration, Social Work, Gerontology, or related field
- Significant experience managing public programs, social services, or aging-related services
- Strong knowledge of aging services, community programs, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with grants, contracts, and program development
- Ability to analyze data and develop policy and program recommendations
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities in a complex environment
